Searching my photographic portfolio for a book project, I came across a favorite shot from a few years back. A weeklong string of winter storms left 2-3 feet of snow on the South Rim. The heavy snow brought the park to a virtual standstill.
Being a local I was able to take advantage of the random breaks in the weather to scout for great shots. Yaki Point delivered the afternoon that the storm system rolled out. I captured this photograph while up to my knees in fresh snow. I didn’t see another soul all afternoon. Truly a day to remember.
